The New York Public Library, 1919

As you may guess, since the New York Public Library has vast collections of stuff on just about every topic under the sun, it has a great collection of First World War material. I’ve drawn on NYPL regularly for material for Roads to the Great War. So recently, I decided to go poking around in their archives for some fresh images that I’d never seen before. Hope you enjoy what I’ve found. They can all be substantially enlarged by clicking on them.

1. A Burberry Advertisement, Apparently Pre-Trench Coat

2. Christ with Cross vs. Trotsky

3. The King of Saxony, Hindenburg, and Ludendorff with the Army

4. Russian Poster – Harvesting German & Austrian Heads

5. Western Front Battle Map—Dated 25 September 1918
